Asia University, Taiwan (AU) has achieved outstanding results in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, ranking No. 2 in Taiwan and No. 1 among private universities in three major academic disciplines: Computer Science, Business & Economics, and Social Sciences. In addition, AU ranked No. 5 in Taiwan and No. 1 among non-medical private universities in both the Clinical & Health and Life Sciences categories.

According to the latest rankings released by Times Higher Education in the UK, Asia University’s strong performance places it just behind National Taiwan University in the three leading fields, securing second place nationwide. In the Clinical & Health and Life Sciences categories, AU also earned national fifth place while maintaining the top spot among non-medical private institutions.

Professor Chang-Hai Tsai, founder of Asia University, stated that AU has been featured in the World University Rankings for eleven consecutive years, with many subjects consistently ranking among the top. These achievements highlight the university's internationally recognized performance and commitment to innovation, as it continues its journey toward becoming a world-class university.

The 2025 THE World University Rankings by Subject are based on the same 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, with recalibrated weightings tailored to the characteristics of 11 specific subject areas. In the overall 2025 THE World University Rankings, 10 Taiwanese universities placed within the global top 600. Asia University saw continued improvement, tying for No. 3 in Taiwan overall, No. 2 among all private universities, and No. 1 among non-medical private universities.

In subject-specific global rankings, AU was placed:
Business & Economics: 176–200 globally, No. 2 in Taiwan, No. 1 among private universities
Computer Science: 201–250 globally, No. 2 in Taiwan, No. 1 among private universities
Social Sciences: 401–500 globally, No. 2 in Taiwan, No. 1 among private universities
Clinical & Health: 401–500 globally, No. 5 in Taiwan, No. 1 among non-medical private universities
Life Sciences: 601–800 globally, No. 5 in Taiwan, No. 1 among non-medical private universities

AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai noted that over the past 24 years since its founding, Asia University has focused on nurturing talent in the intelligent healthcare industry, recruiting internationally renowned scholars and top researchers. With the dedicated efforts of faculty and students, AU’s world rankings have steadily improved. It is now recognized among the four major global university rankings, standing alongside Taiwan’s leading universities.

President Tsai further emphasized AU’s recent push for industry-academia collaboration and talent cultivation in key areas such as AI, semiconductors, and intelligent unmanned vehicles. Notably, 21 AU scholars were named among the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” by Stanford University, reflecting the university’s strong research capacity and scholarly impact. These strengths have led to consistent progress in professional fields and strong performance in the global subject rankings.

Dr. Mei-chin Yin, Director for Research and Development, added that AU strongly encourages international collaboration among faculty, including joint projects and co-authored publications, to enhance global visibility. The university has established several research centers at the institutional level to attract research talent and link academic output to industry. These efforts are clearly reflected in the university’s rising subject rankings across multiple disciplines.
